Whether you are sitting down for a full meal or having a snack on the run, food is a part of your every day life. Whether you are aware of it or not you are making choices all day about what you put into your body and your life in general. Everything you eat affects you. Think about it… a tiny aspirin can relieve you of pain within minutes. A cup of coffee can get you wired. Some things are not as obvious but everything affects you on a subtle level. If you are unhappy, anxious or rushed you will tend to make poor choices. When you are eating well you feel satisfied on many levels and in fact you can actually eat a whole lot more than you thought and enjoy it too.
Health is not the ultimate goal or merely the absence of disease but rather a means to passionately and joyously live one’s chosen path. I believe true health is attained when one finds balance and is appropriately nourished in all aspects of life, including but not limited to relationships, career, exercise, spirituality and of course food. Balance and nourishment do not come from deprivation or willpower, they are the results of awareness, education, guidance and ultimately self-love and respect.
As a nutrition and wellness counselor I do not adhere to any one dietary or lifestyle theory. Drawing on nuggets of wisdom from ancient, modern, eastern and western philosophies, I find what best works for you. I look at current and past symptoms, genetics, cultural background, blood type, as well as past, present and desired lifestyle choices as guideposts to help direct you. Whether you are vegan or a carnivore, no particular food or choice is seen as good or bad; however there is a strong emphasis on eating quality whole foods and making informed choices. I help you to safely detoxify, cleanse, build and maintain a healthy body. My goal is to help you uncover the many joys and benefits of healthy eating and to provide the necessary tools and resources to develop a lifetime of balance even in the midst of a very busy life.
Prior to enrollment in any program, I will take a complete health history of you covering past and present diet, past and present health issues, family and cultural background and many other health related topics. If we feel it is mutually beneficial to work together then we discuss enrolling in a 3-6 month program allowing enough time to make necessary and meaningful changes that will last. Ultimately, you will learn how to develop a diet and lifestyle that best suits your unique needs. You will also receive materials and resources to help expedite the process towards optimal health. Advice and recommendations regarding Supplementation are included and offered with care. Included in every program and also offered separately is a Health Food Store Tour where you gain hands-on experience in healthy shopping. Many clients have commented that this is the most beneficial aspect of the program. Optional Healthy Cooking lessons are also available and a great way to start to incorporate what is being learned.
Ultimately, you receive a practical education on food and lifestyle that may be used to make informed health choices throughout the rest of your life.
